Leonard W. “Lenny” Hannigan II

In March of 2012, Lenny took his 20 years of extracurricular activities of teaching and facilitating leadership and other organizational courses into a new career and became an independent consultant. He worked primarily with WesMar HR Consulting, LLC, one of the founding companies for AlignHR, LLC. Through his more than 30 years of management and leadership experience, he found that it was working with others in order to make a difference was what really mattered to him. He began facilitating leadership seminars, primarily for the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce in 2000. He also facilitated sessions for West Virginia University Extension Office's Community Institute (CDI-East). Lenny spent 18 years as General Manager for Time Warner Cable in Clarksburg, WV. His other management experience came from ten years in the banking industry, working with various types of businesses, as well as from more than 15 years as a part-time director of music for local churches, and from being an independent contractor (residential construction) and from leading various musical groups.

Lenny is an occasional guest lecturer for West Virginia College of Business and Economics, and has taught classes at Fairmont State University and Salem Teikyo University. He began serving as a graduate assistant (now called coaching assistant) for the Dale Carnegie Course© in 1993. Lenny's passion for helping others learn or improve leadership skills and techniques stems from studying Organizational Leadership Development at Wheeling Jesuit University, and from more than 15 years of continual development related to leadership.

His HR-specific expertise includes:

  • Planning and implementing programs and procedures that align employee development and productivity with company goals
  • Motivating and directing employees by customizing or creating monitoring tools that recognize individual employee contributions and career paths
  • Conducting internal investigations to resolve claims of harassment, theft, customer complaints, and/or misuse of company property (computers, software, tools, information)
  • Creating helpful mechanisms to aid with recruitment & selection, applicant tracking, EEO reporting, employee training (safety, new-hire orientations, policy & procedures, and skill development)
  • Training and guiding employees through new product launches, new software implementation, team building, change management, adherence to policies and procedures, and corporate transitions such as mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and right-sizing
  • Administering and analyzing employee satisfaction surveys together with writing and implementing action plans to deal with perceived employee issues
